This weekend marks the beginning of the 2014 Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy. They will be racing at Auto Club Speedway for the California Festival of Speed hosted by the Porsche Club of America.
This year is huge for the series, as for the first time it will be hosting races on both sides of the Mississippi River with the additions of Mid-Ohio and Road America to the calendar. These additions will bring several new challenges in the form of both new tracks and new drivers to the field.
I ended last year’s coaching activities on a high note with my driver, Kevin Woods, sweeping the final two rounds and wrapping up the Championship in his rookie year of sports car driving. He and I will continue to work together in the latter half of 2014.
For now I will be working with new driver, Ray Shahi of Sterling Collision Center. He and 8 other teammates will comprise the TruSpeed Autosport team for the 2014 season. Fingers are crossed for some clean racing and good results for many of these drivers in their debut weekend with the series.
