O’Gara Motorsport Gears up for The Glen

PRESS RELEASE: O’Gara Motorsport Heads to Watkins Glen for Rounds 3 & 4 of 2015 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series

Beverly Hills, Calif., (June 24, 2015) – After an impressive start to the 2015 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series season with 5 podium finishes at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, O’Gara Motorsport is excited to be heading to Watkins Glen International for Rounds 3 and 4. The 3.4-mile, 11 turn track features a 115 foot elevation change and banking in the turns that range from 6 to 10 degrees, making for some outstanding racing.

The team is also excited to be adding a new member. 27-year-old Italian driver, Edoardo Piscopo will be joining the O’Gara Motorsport team as co-driver with team owner, Tom O’Gara, for the upcoming rounds. Piscopo was the 2014 Lamborghini Super Trofeo European and World Champion. Having started his racing career in karts at the age of 12, Piscopo moved into single-seaters in 2005 driving in the Formula BMW USA Series.

Piscopo is looking forward to his return to the United States. “I started my career in the US where I scored my first single-seater wins and managed to sign a contract with REDBULL. I am therefore very excited to come back and start a new chapter with O’Gara Motorsport. Sharing the car with such a distinguished entrepreneur and gentleman driver such as Tom O’Gara will be a new experience for me and I really look forward to it. It will be my first time in Watkins Glen and I can’t wait to start the weekend.”
Tom O’Gara is looking forward to sharing his car with the young champion. “Edoardo is a fantastic driver and I’m extremely happy that he will be driving with us in Watkins Glen. I’ve watched him drive and am very impressed with his ability. I think he’ll make a fantastic addition to the O’Gara Motorsport team and look forward to driving with him.”

Richard Antinucci is hoping to build on his 1st and 2nd place finishes at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. “I really like Watkins Glen as a circuit. It’s a true old school track, one of the few left untouched. The high speed sections and corners provide a big rush and if the car and driver are on song it can be very good fun. I have great memories of winning here in Indy Lights, then following that up with my IndyCar debut the season after that. The place has been good to me. My objective is to get straight to work on setup, with a view to getting the car in a good zone. Maximum points are a possibility, so we’ll do our very best to stay at the sharp end!”

Ryan Ockey garnered two podium finishes in the first two rounds of the LBSTNA Series and is itching for more. “Every time I get in the LBST I have to pinch myself to make sure it’s real. After an exciting first weekend at Laguna Seca I am stoked to drive this fantastic race car again at historic Watkins Glen. Plus, I miss those fantastic homemade cookies at the LBST hospitality.”

Damon Ockey struggled in the first round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, but roared back to a 3rd place finish in the Pro-Am class in round two. He’s hoping for better in rounds 3 and 4. “At Laguna Seca I spun and backed into the wall. I am hoping for better showing at Watkins Glenn. I think this track will play into the strengths of the new Huracán. Every track we go to is a new experience with the car. The technology and performance that they have put into it is amazing.”

Brian Wong anticipates a better weekend as well. “We did okay at Laguna Seca, but I think we could have done better. I love Watkins Glen and am confident that having had more time with my engineer and crew we’ll have much more success this weekend. Our 3rd place finish in Race 2 was good, but I really want to stand on the top of the podium and think we have the capability to do it.”
